Best barber app and best barbershop software: the chair, the walk-in and the rebook

A barbershop runs a diary that is half booked and half walk-in, pays its barbers by rent or commission, and lives on clients coming back every three or four weeks. The software either supports those three things or it is a booking page with a nice interface. Score the walk-in queue, the pay split and the rebook prompt, and the shortlist tends to settle without much argument.

Products barbershops commonly shortlist, and what to make each one show you

Not a ranking. Siftvo publishes no score of its own and no vendor pays to be named here. The order is alphabetical and the line after each name is the thing to make that vendor show you in a demo, scored on your own sheet.

  1. Booksy: marketplace-led with published pricing: ask the per-booking charge and whether the marketplace can be switched off
  2. Boulevard: front-desk-led with published tiers: run the busy Saturday walk-in queue scenario
  3. Squire: built for barbershops specifically: ask for an end-of-week payout with tips, commission and chair rent on one screen
  4. Vagaro: per-seat pricing published openly: check the six-week drifted-client list and what it can do automatically

The walk-in queue is the thing most products ignore

How a walk-in is added, where they sit in relation to booked clients, what the wait estimate is, and whether the client can see it from their phone. Ask to see a busy Saturday: three booked, two waiting and a barber running late. A product that only understands appointments will make your front desk manage the queue in their head, which is what they already do without software.

Chair rent, commission and who owes what

Whether barbers are on rent, on commission, or a mixture, and how the product records it. Ask to see an end-of-week payout with tips, product commission and a rent deduction on the same screen. If that is a spreadsheet job, it is a permanent weekly cost. Ask too what a barber sees on their own phone, because a product barbers dislike stops being used properly within a month.

Rebooking, reminders and the client who drifts

A prompt to rebook at checkout, a reminder before the appointment, and a list of clients who have not been in for six weeks that somebody can actually work. Ask what happens automatically and what needs a person. The drifted-client list is the cheapest revenue in a barbershop and most shops never see it because their software will not produce it.

Questions people ask about best barber app

Do we need a marketplace or just a booking page?

A marketplace brings new clients and charges for them. If your chairs are already full, it is a cost; if you are opening, it is a channel. Ask the per-booking charge and whether it can be turned off.

What about tips?

Ask how tips are captured at checkout, how they reach the barber, and how they appear at payout and at year end. It sounds minor and it is the thing barbers notice first.

Is there a best barbershop system?

Not one we will name. We publish no ranking and no vendor score. Run the busy Saturday scenario at each product and score it yourself.
